Scholarship Particulars
1. HSF will subtract the total dollar amount of ALL scholarships, awards, grants, waivers, and one-half of the recipient’s EFC from the recipient’s Total Cost of Attendance, which includes tuition, fees, room and board, books, supplies, personal, and transportation costs.
The scholarship disbursement amount, which can be up to $6,000 per semester, will then be calculated.
Parents are not required to pay the EFC; it is just used to determine how much will be disbursed.
2. The disbursement amount will be adjusted each semester to reflect changes to the recipient’s EFC as well as the loss or expiration of any other scholarships, grants, or awards.
3. The scholarship is valid for up to seven consecutive semesters if the beneficiary fulfills the requirements of the scholarship and the commitments of the required workshop.
4. First-year award recipients receive $1,000 to spend on non-scholarship requirements like laptops, phones, clothing, office supplies, bedding, etc. before they enroll in college.
5. Second-year students are given a $15,000 HSF brokerage account and a $1,000 personal brokerage account to manage until graduation in order to learn first-hand how to invest for financial security.
