Founded in 1770, the College of Charleston is a public institution situated in an urban setting with a campus spanning 95 acres.

The College of Charleston’s sports teams, known as the Cougars, compete in the NCAA Division I Colonial Athletic Association.
The student body is predominantly female, with over 60 percent representation and approximately 20 percent of students participate in Greek life.
Additionally, the College of Charleston offers a diverse range of more than 30 graduate degree and certificate programs through The Graduate School of the University of Charleston, South Carolina.

College of Charleston Acceptance Rate
The College of Charleston boasts an admissions acceptance rate of 76%, with an early acceptance rate even higher at 84%.
Among accepted applicants who provided test scores, half fell within the range of an SAT score between 1130 and 1300 or an ACT score of 24 to 30.
You must note that one-quarter of admitted students scored above these ranges, while another quarter scored below. The application deadline for the College of Charleston is January 15.
Admissions officials at the College of Charleston assign significant importance to a student’s GPA as a key academic factor.
High school class rank, if available, is also considered important in the evaluation process, whereas letters of recommendation do not carry weight with the admissions officials at the College of Charleston.
