About SDSU Scholarships
San Diego State University (SDSU) provides a variety of scholarships to assist students in covering the cost of their education.
These scholarships are open to both new and returning students, and they are given out in accordance with a number of standards, such as academic excellence, financial need, leadership potential, and involvement in the community.
Types of Scholarships
SDSU offers several types of scholarships, including:
1. Merit-based Scholarships
These scholarships are awarded to students who demonstrate outstanding academic achievement. Students are typically required to have a minimum GPA and SAT/ACT score to be considered for these scholarships.
2. Need-based Scholarships
These scholarships are awarded to students who demonstrate financial need. Students must submit a Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA) to be considered for these scholarships.
3. Presidential Scholars Program
The Presidential Scholars program offers students the chance to receive a grant worth up to $40,000 over four years if selected.
Only those who have received an invitation may apply for the scholarship, and those who meet the requirements are notified in December and January of their status.
4. Departmental Scholarships
These scholarships are awarded by individual departments within SDSU. They may be based on academic achievement or other criteria specific to the department.
5. External Scholarships
Organizations outside of SDSU award these scholarships. Students can search for external scholarships on websites such as Fastweb, Scholarships.com, and Cappex.
