Thurgood Marshall Scholarships

Numerous scholarships worth thousands of dollars are offered to deserving students at UMES and the other 46 institutions that make up the Thurgood Marshall College Fund (TMCF). The criteria for getting this scholarship are based on eligibility and financial necessity.

Thurgood Marshall Scholarships

The Thurgood Marshall College Fund (TMCF) was founded in 1987. It is the biggest organization in the country dedicated to representing the black college community.

Historically, black colleges and universities (HBCUs) and predominantly black institutions are two examples of TMCF member schools (PBIs).

More than 80% of students enrolled in HBCUs attend publicly funded institutions. The program covers internships, scholarships, and leadership institutions.

The K–12 and higher education sectors both rely heavily on TMCF. The institution is a resource for prestigious organizations looking for the best contenders demanding internships and excellent careers.

The scholarships are one-year, non-renewable awards that also help students pay for their tuition, on-campus housing, books, and required fees.
