Scottie Barnes Scholarship – For the Scottie Barnes Scholarship, wholly funded by the Skilled Trades College of Canada, eligible students may submit an application right away.

Through a three-year partnership with Skilled Trades College, Scottie Barnes will launch a $250,000 scholarship program.

This year, Scottie will get things going by choosing four students to earn full scholarships worth $20,000 each.

The Scottie Barnes Scholarship

Black and Indigenous students are invited to take advantage of the chance to compete for one of four scholarships that will jumpstart their career in the skilled trades by the Skilled Trades College of Canada in collaboration with Scottie Barnes, the Toronto Raptors’ Rookie of the Year.

The fortunate recipients chosen by Scottie will have the opportunity to enroll at any of the Skilled Trades College sites spread out over the Greater Toronto Area (GTA) to study courses in plumbing, electrical work, data and smart home wiring, and home remodeling.

Financial Benefits of the Scottie Barnes Scholarship

The chance to begin an apprenticeship in their chosen trade will be available to scholarship recipients, with the extra bonus of having all of their program-related tuition costs, tools, and textbooks paid for.

Each scholarship is worth $20,000 in its entirety.

Benefits of the Scottie Barnes Scholarship

  • Obtain a signed Scottie Barnes, Toronto Raptors jersey, attend a meet-and-greet with Scottie Barnes, and receive an invitation to a Raptors game in the fall.
  • Select the Campus of Your Choice (Toronto East, Vaughan, Mississauga, Ajax)
  • Select a Program (Electrical, Plumbing, Home Improvement, and Smart Home Wiring)
  • Provide STC with updates during the course and three months
  • A full scholarship worth $20,000.

  •  30 – 90 seconds in length

To apply for the Scottie Barnes Scholarship

  • Canadian Citizen or Permanent Resident
  • Completed High School or Equivalent
  • Identify as a visible minority (BlPOC)
  • Age 18-30

Eligibilities for the Scholarship

  • 1. Candidates must be Canadian citizens or have legal status as permanent residents in Canada.
  • 2. Successful high school graduation or possession of an equivalent certification.
  • 3. The age range must be between 18 and 30.
  • 4. Self-identification as a Black, Indigenous, or Person of Color (BlPOC) visible minority member.
