The Science and Engineering Research Board (SERB) is inviting online applications for the Ramanujan Fellowship program.

This fellowship is designed to support Indian scientists and engineers who are currently working abroad.

Recipients of this fellowship will receive financial assistance to conduct research at any Science and Technology Institution, including university departments, academic institutions, and national laboratories in India.

It is essential that the institution where applicants plan to conduct their research is willing to provide the necessary administrative research and development infrastructure support to facilitate their research endeavors.

Benefits Of SERB Ramanujan Fellowship

Candidates who are chosen will receive the fellowship benefits for a fixed duration of five years, and it is not possible to extend this fellowship. Here are the benefits provided to beneficiaries:

1. A consolidated monthly stipend of Rs. 1,35,000, which includes HRA (House Rent Allowance).

2. Each Fellow will be granted Rs. 7.00 lakh per year for research-related expenses such as consumables, travel, research personnel, and unforeseen contingencies.

3. An additional Rs. 60,000 per year will be allocated to each Fellow for overhead charges.

Eligibility Criteria

Candidates applying for this opportunity should meet the following criteria:

1. Hold a Ph.D. in Science or Engineering, a Master’s degree in Engineering or Technology, or an MD in Medicine.

2. Possess sufficient professional experience.

3. Be under the age of 40.

4. Demonstrate a strong and impressive track record, substantiated by their research publications and accolades.

5. Not hold a permanent, tenure-track, or contractual position at any Indian Institute or University.

6. Currently, working abroad at the time of nomination.

Selection Procedure

1. Candidates are required to submit their nominations once they have chosen the fellowship institute they prefer.

2. The selection of applicants for this fellowship initiative will be conducted periodically by an authorized Search and Selection Committee.
