About Yusuf Maitama Sule University, Kano
Nigeria’s Yusuf Maitama Sule University (YUMSU), located in Kano, is a state-owned institution that is managed and controlled by the Kano State Government.
Under the direction of His Excellency Governor Rabiu Musa Kwankwaso, it commissioned the State University in 2012.
The University has two campuses: the City Campus, which is located at Ado Bayero House in Kofar Nassarawa, Kano State, and the Main Campus, which is situated along General Buhari Way in Kofar Ruwa, Kano State.
Post-graduate programs and degree programs offered by the institution have been approved by the National University Commission (NUC).

Degree programme
Yumsu offers direct entry and UTME for admission to its undergraduate degree.
Admission Requirements for YUMSU Through the UTME
When applying for admission to YUMSU through the UTME, you must:
- Possess a 16-year-old or older age.
- Have obtained at least five (5) credit grades on Your O-level examinations, with English and Mathematics being required.
- Your UTME score must be at least 170.
- Choose the right subjects for your course.
- Have a minimum grade requirement for your necessary course.
Criteria for Direct Entry Admission to YUMSU
The following qualifications can be used to qualify candidates for admission to YUMSU through direct entry:
- English and math must be included in the minimum of five (5) credit grades in the O’level result(s). Two-sitting results are not permitted.
- JAMB direct entry form must have been obtained from JAMB.
- Each of the following certificates is required: NCE, OND, HND, BSc, and ICAN
