Savitribai Phule Pune University (SPPU), formerly known as the University of Pune (UniPune), is one of India’s leading universities.

It is recognized by the UGC and has earned an ‘A’ grade accreditation from NAAC. Often referred to as the ‘Oxford of the East’, SPPU was ranked 19th among the top universities in India by NIRF 2023. The university has over 700 affiliated colleges, 46 academic departments, and 52 research centers.

SPPU offers a variety of courses at the undergraduate, postgraduate, and doctoral levels, including PG Diploma, Diploma, and Certificate programs across disciplines such as Science, Commerce, Arts, Engineering, and Management.

Admission to these programs is based on merit or entrance exams, with accepted scores from MHTCET, GATE, CAT/MAT/ATMA/XAT, and the university’s own entrance test. Additionally, SPPU provides various UG and PG courses through distance education.

Admission

For 2024 admissions at Pune University, most courses like MSc, MA, MTech, MCom, BA, and BBA require candidates to take the Online Entrance Exam (OEE) conducted by the university.

However, admission to courses such as MCA, MMM, Advanced Diploma, MPH, E-MBA, LLM, and M.Lib.I.Sc is entirely based on merit from the previous qualifying exams (Class 12 for UG and undergraduate degree for PG).

3. Select either PG admissions or Ph.D. admissions.

Scholarships

SPPU provides a range of scholarships for students from SC/ST/OBC categories and local state residents. The university also offers UK-India Education and Research Initiative Scholarships to promote bilateral and mutual benefits for students.

Additionally, SPPU provides a monthly stipend to M.Phil and Ph.D. students and offers central government post-matric scholarships for minority students. The following scholarship schemes are available through SPPU:
