Palmetto Fellows Scholarship – The Palmetto Fellows Scholarship is a merit-based scholarship program awarded by the state of South Carolina to high-achieving high school seniors who plan to attend an eligible four-year institution within the state.

What Are The Requirements of The Palmetto Fellows Scholarship?

To be eligible for the Scholarship in South Carolina, students must meet the following requirements:

  • At the time of high school graduation and when obtaining the award, be a legitimate resident of cost of tuition.
  • Have a cumulative GPA of at least 3.50 on the SC Uniform Grading Policy scale at the end of your junior year of high school.
  • Score at least 1200 on the SAT or 27 on the ACT by June 30 following the senior year in high school. Super-scoring is not allowed for scholarship consideration.
  • Complete a rigorous high school curriculum that includes at least two courses in each of the following subject areas: English, mathematics (Algebra I, Algebra II, and Geometry or higher), laboratory science (two units must include labs), social studies, and foreign language (must be in the same language).
  • Be accepted and enrolled full-time at a four-year institution or a two-year institution that has an articulated transfer agreement with a four-year institution in South Carolina.
  • Not be a Palmetto Fellows Scholarship recipient before the upcoming academic year, unless the scholarship is being received for the first time in the final semester of the student’s senior year of high school.

It’s important to note that meeting the minimum eligibility requirements does not guarantee receipt of the scholarship

The Palmetto Fellows Scholarship is awarded on a competitive basis, and priority is given to students with the highest scores and grades.

Award Amount

The South Carolina General Assembly decides the Palmetto Fellows award sum each year. The top amount is currently $6,700.

Students in their cost of tuition, junior, or senior year may receive up to $10,000 if they have declared a major in science or mathematics and satisfy other enhanced requirements.

Disbursements

Your student account will be credited with the Palmetto Fellows Scholarship to cover any outstanding balances. The student receives a return of any extra aid.

Excess financial aid is returned to the student and can be used for any college-related expenses, including off-campus housing if all tuition and fees have been paid and you are enrolled full-time.

Except for students enrolled in co-ops or internships, the Palmetto Fellows Scholarship is normally offered during the Fall and Spring semesters.
