Makhanlal Chaturvedi National University of Journalism and Communication, established in 1990, is a UGC-recognized institution located in Bhopal, Madhya Pradesh.

Named after Pandit Makhanlal Chaturvedi, a renowned editor, poet, writer, and freedom fighter, the university has two campuses in Bhopal and three others in Datia, Khandwa, and Rewa. It is known as the first academic center of excellence in the Asian subcontinent.

Also referred to as Makhanlal University, it offers a range of undergraduate, postgraduate, and skill-oriented diploma programs in fields such as Journalism, Broadcast Journalism, Advertising and Public Relations, Electronic Media, New Media, Cinema Studies, Computer Applications, Media Business Management, Library and Information Sciences, and Communication Research.

At the undergraduate level, the university offers BA, B.Sc., B.Tech, BCA, BBA, B.Com, and BLIS programs, while at the postgraduate level, it offers MA, M.Sc., MBA, MCA, and MLIS programs. Additionally, the university offers Diploma, PG Diploma, and PhD programs in various specializations.

Admission to the university is based on merit from both the qualifying examination and the entrance examination conducted by the university. Applications for admission can be submitted both online and offline.

MCNUJC Bhopal has signed MoUs with various organizations, including the United Nations, UNICEF, Gondwana University, Vikram University Ujjain, Madhya Pradesh Council of Science and Technology, the Happiness Department of Madhya Pradesh, and many others.

Admission to this university is based solely on merit and an online interview, though certain prerequisites must be met to apply.

For undergraduate courses, candidates must have completed the Intermediate examination (10+2) or an equivalent examination.

For postgraduate courses, candidates must have successfully passed their graduation examination (final examination of the third year) in the relevant field.

How to Apply

1. Applications for admission are only accepted online, and they become effective only if the required payments are paid.

2. Applicants must go to https://mcrpv.mponline.gov.in/ or the university’s website, www.mcu.ac.in, to complete an online application.

3. It is possible for an applicant to apply to many programs. But for each program, he or she needs to fill out a different form and pay the necessary money.

4. The online application fee for general and OBC candidates is Rs. 500 (with an additional Rs. 50 for the site). The application cost is waived for candidates who are SC/ST in M.P.; only Rs. 50 portal charges needs to be paid.

5. It is possible for an applicant to apply to many programs. Each extra program requires the submission of a separate form costing Rs. 300 (plus an additional Rs. 50 for the postal charge).

Candidates who identify as SC/ST in M.P. may apply to as many programs as they choose; each program will require a Rs. 50 portal fee.

6. Admission to undergraduate programs will be determined by adding 30% of the marks from the online interview to a merit list that is created by adding 70% of the class 12 scores.

Similarly, 30% of the marks from the online interview and 70% of the marks from the first and second years of graduation (if there is a semester process, then the marks from the first four semesters and annual examination, in this case, the marks from the first two years) will be added to the merit list for admission to postgraduate courses.

7. The University will admit students to its diploma programs based only on merit, determined by the applicant’s scores on the qualifying exam.

The online application fee for these courses is Rs. 300 (plus an additional Rs. 50 for the portal). The application price for additional courses is Rs. 200 (plus an additional Rs. 50 for the portal). Madhya Pradesh SC/ST candidates may apply for free, although there will be a Rs. 50/-portal charge.

8. Students with grades in grades, CGPAs, or SGPAs should be aware that when they fill out the online application, their grades, CGPAs, or SGPAs are converted to marks/percentages.

The online application form will be denied if the applicant does not fill it out with their marks or percentage.

9. The university will not accept any application forms that are not paid for, therefore each candidate needs to make sure they have paid the online fees and received their receipt.

10. The chosen students must send their mark sheet, caste certificate, and any other certificates required for the admissions process by email to the relevant department within three days of the interview, per the guidelines.

MCNUJC Bhopal Scholarship

The University offers limited merit scholarships to students who are domiciled residents of Madhya Pradesh.

Tuition fee concessions are available to a select number of students from economically weaker sections, based on their academic performance and conduct on campus, as well as to enrolled siblings at the University.

Additionally, scholarships are provided to students from scheduled castes, scheduled tribes, other backward categories, and physically challenged groups, in accordance with the rules set by the government of Madhya Pradesh.
