Kerala University, one of India’s first 16 universities, was founded in 1937 as the University of Travancore. NAAC has re-accredited Kerala University with an A++ mark.

It has been ranked 451-500 by QS World Asian University 2023. Additionally, Kerala University has around 150 associated colleges.

Furthermore, the institution comprises more than ten schools and forty departments. The University of Kerala offers around 30 undergraduate and postgraduate programs.

Admissions to Kerala University are available in over 50 courses at the undergraduate, graduate, and research levels through its many teaching departments and affiliated institutions.

The institution provides three-year BCA, LLM, BSc, BPEd, BVoc, BA, BBA, BCom, BFA, BHMCT, BMS, and BSW courses, as well as five-year BArch, two-year BEd, and four-year BHM and BTech programs.

The institution provides two-year MTech, MSc, LLM, MA, MEd, MArch, MBA, MCA, MCom, MCJ, MPA, MPEd, MPlan, MSW, and MVA courses, as well as a one-year MLISc program.

The university also offers MPhil and PhD programs to its students. BTech is offered in 18 specializations, whereas MTech is available in over 43.

Admission Process

Candidates seeking admission to PG studies at Kerala University must take a university-conducted entrance examination.

The institution also accepts scores from national and state-level entrance exams such as GATE, CMAT/KMAT/KU CAT for admission to MTech and MBA programs.

Admission to PhD studies at Kerala University is based on a university-conducted entrance examination and personal interview. Kerala University accepts applications online.

Scholarship

These are the Scholarship provided by the college:

1. Student’s Aid Fund Scholarship

  • Kerala University offers financial support to needy students through the Student Aid Fund Scholarship.
  • This scholarship is available to students whose household income is INR 25,000 per year.
  • The candidates must have the income certificate of the working parent given by the village officer.

2. Student’s Group Personal Accident Insurance Scheme (SGPAIS)

  • This scholarship plan covers students’ medical expenditures up to INR 25,000 in case of an accident and up to INR 1,000,000 in the event of a death claim.
  • The premium for the scholarship is INR 25 per student.

3. Kerala University Merit Scholarships

Kerala University grants scholarships to undergraduate students who achieve 55% in the HSE/VHSE/ CBSE/ISC examinations held immediately before to their admission to the College. The scholarships are valid for three years and will only be offered to students who pass the HSE/VHSE/ CBSE/ISC exams with at least 55% marks on their first attempt.

Each of the 188 students will receive an annual scholarship of INR 2,500.

The institution also offers institution Merit Scholarships to Postgraduate students who have a First Class Bachelor’s Degree from the University Examinations held immediately preceding the award of the scholarship.

In the absence of eligible candidates from the immediately preceding University Examination, individuals who received a first-class in a previous examination on their first attempt may also be considered.

The scholarship is worth INR 3000 per year and is awarded to 169 students for a two-year period.
