The polytechnic, which was founded in 1975 and is governed by the National Board for Technical Education (NBTE), is composed of five schools (faculties): the School of Technology, the School of Management Studies, the School of Environmental Studies, the School of Rural Technology and Entrepreneurship Development, and the School of General Studies.

WAEC and NECO (‘O’ Level) Requirements: DE (Direct Entry) candidates are not much different from UTME candidates; all that is required is that candidate must obtain a minimum of Credit pass; this must include English Language and Mathematics plus any other 3 subjects as it relates to your choice of course, just like the UTME requirements; or must possess GCE A/L as this would be an added advantage.
