What is JAMB Regularization?

To grant one route for securing admission or to issue an admission letter/registration number, JAMB Regularization ensures that the JAMB Board verifies candidates’ current admission details.

This will be in line with the school that gave admission to such candidates in their database.

The goal of the JAMB regularization approach is to clear a successful student’s JAMB status and resolve or regulate ND, HND, OND, and NCE types of university admission.

However, the purpose of the process is to make sure that the information they currently have on you is accurate and matches your admissions/registration history at the institution where you were accepted.

Consequently, students who have been admitted but lack a JAMB admission letter are JAMB regularization applicants.

They did, however, grant admission to students from the basic and certificate programs who did not register for JAMB at any point in the academic year.

This enables candidates who have been approved but do not yet have a JAMB record to register on the portal.

Who Needs JAMB Regularization?

You’ll need to do JAMB regularization if you fall into any of the categories of students mentioned below:

  • Students who were admitted to a tertiary institution but did not write the UTME or did not use their UTME results to apply for admission.
  • Students who were admitted to a tertiary institution through a direct entry program, such as JUPEB or IJMB.
  • If you were admitted to a tertiary institution through a foundation program.
  • Given admission to a tertiary institution through a part-time program.
  • Students who were admitted to a tertiary institution, but were not given a JAMB admission letter.
  • Students who were admitted to a tertiary institution but their admission was not processed by JAMB.

How to Check Your Admission Status for the Approval

Most importantly, for candidates who used their regularization to change programs or institutions, or those who were initially enrolled through JAMB, you can check your JAMB admission status to verify if it has been approved.

To find out your JAMB admission status regarding the regularization approval, follow the guidelines below.

  • Visit the profile page for your Jamb account or go to https://portal.jamb.gov.ng/efacility.
  • Please enter your accurate Jamb email address. Remember your proper password; if you lose it, you won’t be able to access the website. Once you’ve logged in, go to the next screen (the dashboard) and choose Check Admission Status.
  • Choose the relevant admissions year on the following screen, and if you supplied one during the process submission, enter your JAMB registration number. Once done correctly, you will get a notification of whether it has been accepted.

Is JAMB Regularization Necessary?

Yes. To be eligible for the National Youth Service Corps registration and mobilization (NYSC), every Nigerian graduate must ensure that their school admission information is verified with that from JAMB.

No one will be eligible for the one-year National Youth Service Corps if they did not undergo the process.

Also, it enables you to print admission letter, and most importantly you will have peace of mind knowing that your admission is duly recognized by JAMB

Can the Process be done Twice?

  • Yes. You can finish the process twice even though there is an exemption. Since there is a chance that something went wrong the first time, JAMB allows students to apply for it on a second attempt.
  • A spelling error in your name or date of birth could cause Jamb to reject your registration for it. You, therefore, have another opportunity to correct the problems and resubmit.
  • For there to be an exemption, the indemnification form has to be submitted after the original regularization and accepted by JAMB.
  • Your jamb registration number cannot be changed after JAMB has approved and signed the indemnity form. Consequently, it is challenging to implement your legislation a second time.
