HEC Indigenous Scholarship – For Ph.D. students, HEC has announced an Indigenous Scholarship. Outstanding Pakistani and AJK citizens who wish to pursue a doctorate at universities or degree-awarding institutions recognized by the Pakistani Higher Education Commission (HEC) are encouraged to apply.

Eligibility Criteria for HEC Indigenous Scholarship
Applicant must be a national of Pakistan or the AJK, and only HEC students are eligible for the award. The HEC 500 HEC Indigenous Scholarship 2023 is open to applicants who are enrolled in MS/M.Phil/Ph.D. programs at HEC and their recognized universities.
Direct Ph.D. scholarship applicants must have a minimum cumulative grade point average (CGPA) of 3.0 (out of 4.0 in the semester system) or first division (in the annual system) in their MS, MPhil, or equivalent degree; applicants who have received any other scholarships are ineligible to apply.
The Categories for the HEC Indigenous Scholarship
Students are however encouraged to submit applications in one of these four categories:
- Bachelors/ Masters (16 Years) Completed
- Masters/Mphil (18 Years Completed)
- Masters/Mphil (18 Years)
- EnrolledEnrolled in PhD
Age Limit for the HEC Indigenous Scholarship
The minimum and maximum age requirements for candidates should be 16 and 40, respectively.

How to Apply for HEC Indigenous Scholarship
- Only online applications through (e-portal.hec/gov.pk) are accepted by applicants. Applications and other documentation do not need to be submitted by hand at this time.
- Original proof of a 500 rupee (non-refundable) online deposit or ATM transfer made in the name of the HEC’s director general of finance. Additionally, any bank may deposit the fee into the Habib Bank Limited account with the routing number 1742-79001334-01.
Supervisor Allowance
Acceptance of the Ph.D. summary by the Board of Advanced Studies and Research, once payment has been received in full of Rs. Publication with co-authorship of HEC supervise in an ISI journal at a price of Rs.30,000 to be paid to the supervisor once per year for three years (up to a maximum of Rs.70,000) OR on publication with co-authorship of HEC supervise in an HEC approved journal at a price of Rs.15,000 twice per year for three years, Ph.D. thesis writing completed and sent for review abroad: Rs. 50,000 once paid; Rs. 20,000 once paid; Rs. 50,000 once paid; Ph.D. completion/degree notification completed: Rs. 50,000 once paid.
