The University of Delhi (commonly known as DU or Delhi University) is one of the most distinguished educational institutions in the country, having been designated as a ‘Institute of Excellence’ by the UGC.

It was founded in 1922, has developed to become one of India’s major universities, with over 6 lakh students enrolled in undergraduate, graduate, certificate, diploma, postgraduate diploma, and remote programs.

The NIRF 2023 Rankings place it at 11th in the ‘University’ category and 22nd in the ‘Overall’ category.

DU University has two campuses: North and South. It is also associated with 91 institutions, 86 departments, 23 centers, 16 faculties, and three institutes dispersed around Delhi.

DU offers undergraduate, graduate, and doctoral programs in a variety of disciplines, including arts, science, commerce, management, law, medicine, design, and information technology.

In addition to full-time studies, it provides distance learning programs through its School of Open Learning (SOL Delhi University).

Popular Programs

DU is one of India’s most popular universities, offering a diverse range of undergraduate and postgraduate studies.

One of the most popular courses at DU in 2023 is BCom (Hons), which is provided by a variety of colleges, including Hindu College, Shri Ram College of Commerce, and Hans Raj College.

BA (Hons) English and BA (Hons) Economics are also popular courses at DU.

Admission

The Common University Entrance Test (CUET 2023) exam, administered by the NTA, is required for admission to Delhi University’s undergraduate programs in 2024.

Furthermore, beginning with the academic year 2023-2024, DU will undertake PG course admissions through CUET PG.

Previously, admission to some UG and all PG courses was subject to DU’s entrance tests, known as the Delhi University Entrance Test (DUET) or the Delhi University LLB Entrance Exam, followed by a Personal Interview (PI).
