About Bodoland University
The Assam Legislative Assembly created Bodoland University in 2009 under the Bodoland University Act of 2009. The University intends to improve education in lower Assam, notably in the BTAD region.
Bodoland University provides educational possibilities through 17 PG Departments, 48 Affiliated Degree Colleges, 4 DIETs, and 3 B.Ed. Colleges that utilize the UGC’s Choice-Based Credit System.
Bodoland University, located in Kokrajhar district, is the region’s first university. Within the area, there are three universities, all of which are located in the Kokrajhar district. The three universities include:
- Bodoland University.
- Central Institute of Technology, Kokrajhar
- Kokrajhar Government College (now a university)
These universities play a major role in meeting the educational needs of the five districts including Kokrajhar, Chirang, Baksa, Udalguri, and Tamulpur. However, the focus of this study will be entirely on Bodoland University.
Facilities
The university also has a health centre, a technology incubator, an intellectual property rights cell, a bus service, hostel facilities, and the Padmashri Modaram Brahma Central Library.
Location
The university is located near Rangilakhata, Debargaon, only 8 kilometres north of Kokrajhar.
